WordWallet Privacy Policy

What the app collects, why, who helps us process it, and how you can delete it.

Last updated: November 7, 2026

The short version

  • We collect your email and the words you learn, to run the app and sync your devices.
  • The words you look up are sent to OpenAI to write your cards. Your name and email are not.
  • No ads, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
  • Delete your account in the app and everything is deleted, on every device.

This policy explains how Clevolo ("we", "us") handles information in the WordWallet app for iPhone, iPad and Mac ("the app").

1. What we collect

Account information

  • Your email address, to create your account and log you in.
  • If you sign in with Apple: the name and email you choose to share (Apple lets you hide your real email).
  • If you log in with Google: your name, email and profile picture from Google.
  • If you use email and a password: the password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.

Your learning data

  • The words, phrases and sentences you look up, and the cards you save.
  • The words you mark as learned, your review progress and vocabulary test results.
  • Your languages and levels, the context for examples (for example a show or a book), your daily goal and why you learn, words you chose to skip, and your app settings.

Technical information

Our servers keep standard logs (such as IP addresses and the time of a request) for a short time, to keep the service running and protect it from abuse. The app contains no analytics or advertising tools.

2. What stays on your device

  • Your voice. When you say a word, Apple's speech recognition turns it into text on your device. Only the resulting text is used, like a typed word; the recording is never sent to us.
  • Pronunciation. Words are read aloud by Apple's built-in voices on your device.
  • Reminders. Your daily reminder is scheduled on your device.

3. How we use it

  • To create your account, log you in and keep your words and settings the same on all your devices.
  • To write your word cards, examples, exercises and word suggestions.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

4. AI and OpenAI

WordWallet uses OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT) to write cards. Before anything is sent, the app asks your permission once; you can turn it off any time in Settings → Use AI.

What is sent: the words, phrases and sentences you look up, your context, and your languages and level. Never your name, email or account details.

Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to monitor abuse, then deletes it.

5. Service providers

ProviderWhat it does
SupabaseStores your account and learning data and runs the app's server.
OpenAIWrites cards, examples and suggestions from the words you look up.
AppleSign in with Apple, if you choose it, and App Store downloads.
GoogleLog in with Google, only if you choose it.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

6. No ads, no tracking, no selling

WordWallet shows no ads. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell or rent your information.

7. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while you have an account. To delete it:

  • iPhone and iPad: open Settings (⚙︎) and tap Delete Account at the very bottom.
  • Mac: click your account at the bottom of the sidebar, then Delete Account.

This permanently deletes your account and all your words, on every device. You can also ask us by email.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it. Write to us from the email of your account and we'll answer within 30 days.

9. Security

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). Each account can only reach its own data, and passwords are stored only in hashed form.

10. Children

WordWallet is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
